I’m thinking maybe i should try the guid you suggested 4d36eece-bfcbe to connect to the bluetooth headset. I searched the forum for “rfcomm” and only came up with one thread: Not for VB6 questions. From what I’ve found out about sockets they seem pretty handy so I’d be rly grateful if someone could help me learn this stuff. I am going to verify this when I get home, but My Kensington under Vista does not work quite the same way It’s there to let people know that searching this forum IS possible!

No matter what device you use, I think you will still have to use the SerialPort class for communication. But all my searches ended up on information unrelated to VB and bluetooth audio devices.

Monday, July 6, I’m trying to search for devices, decide if they are headsets both of those objectives are met btw then connect and exchange audio data, possibly get button status. Brian Peek has a nice article that demonstrates using a Wiimote from managed VB.

RFCOMM is communications?

It’s always been the mobile phone that is connected. It shows up in BlueSoleil as a service of the cell efcomm, which looks like part of the Bluetooth piconet in XP.

I have also been able to use that to connect HID devices. Because those are complex and i dont know them. You can filter the returned devices to include only those that are currently present, which in my case managed to eliminate over such phantom devices from the list, and provided me with a list of ones to rfocmm, too.

The process involves using setupapi. I can connect to most bluetooth devices but cant connect to headset devices to exchange audio data. I am thinking that my Bluetooth headset uses HID. It uses the HID technique, which is another popular way to get at Bluetooth devices which involves using no Bluetooth, or other socket communications.
